Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Penderyn is a very busy and welcoming school here’s some of the activities which have happened at school in recent months.
Congratulations to the children who competed in the recent Urdd Eisteddfod in reciting, singing and dancing. They participated excellently and we are proud of them.
Congratulations to the Criw Cymraeg along with Miss Addiscott and Mrs Porter who have worked to promote the Welsh language skills of children at school. They regularly raise awareness of the need to speak Welsh. They’ve also worked with Ysgol Llwydcoed to support their development of Welsh skills. The Criw Cymraeg have recently been awarded with the Gold Siarter Iaith award for all their hard work.
Congratulations also to our school rugby teams who have taken part in recent Urdd rugby events. They played excellently and thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
Our girls football team played brilliantly in the RCT County football tournament in Pentre. Again, a valiant performance by the girls.
Well done to the older children’s football team on their performance in the Roffi Cup at the Ynys in Aberdare. Excellent team work by the children and support by the parents.
Our Year 4, 5 and 6 children visited Llain Outdoor Centre for a busy week of learning about personal responsibility and fun with their friends in West Wales. Nearly 50 children attended for a fun filled week of: climbing, abseiling, high ropes, mud run, kayaking, archery, team building, sailing, coasteering, dolphin watching and beach combing. I even feel tired listing all the activities. 😊
Again, we were proud of them and a special thanks to Miss Benney, Mrs Davies, Miss Taylor and especially Mr Phil Thomas (Governor) for volunteering for the residential visit – without their support this event would not be able to take place.
Thanks also to Mrs Amos and Mr Thomas for their tireless work leading the Parent, Teacher, Friends Association selling toast every Wednesday morning and lots of fun activities throughout the year to raise funds for the school. These contributions subsidise many visits which make them affordable for families. Thanks for the hard work – we really appreciate you.
